Percy Jackson Greek Gods A Percy Jackson and the Olympians Guide edition by Rick Riordan John Rocco Children eBooks

This was an excellent book! It was filled with all of the familiar elements of the Greek mythology, but with the hilarious Percy Jackson narrating, it's stuffed to the rim with modern and funny comments and side notes to keep up the interesting factor up a through the whole book. I actually was a little sceptical about downloading it because I know all the myths by Heart. But this book tells them in a completely different view. So even if you know all of the myths, this book will tell them in a completely new way. I recommend this book wholeheartedly for any fantasy fan.

P. S. I say don't listen to the haters at all

P. P. S. This is a review by a 10 year old, so you know that I told the absolute truth I swear by the river Styx ( it's the best oath that you can make, so you can't break it)

Percy Jackson Greek Gods A Percy Jackson and the Olympians Guide edition by Rick Riordan John Rocco Children eBooks Reviews

My 16 yr old reads this to me on Saturday mornings we get to sleep in. It’s a fun easy read told by a beloved teenage Percy. The current language usage helps decipher the Greek Pantheon in a way my daughter can retain while I add in the tradition of the mythology and refer to quotes we often use in real life to show her the importance of these storiesz
If you're a fan of the Percy Jackson books and Percy Jackson's sardonic, witty narration, you won't be disappointed. The book starts with the Greek origin myth and goes on to give a pretty good summary of most of the major Greek gods. Though many of the more well-known myths (Jason and the Argonauts, Hercules, etc) are only mentioned in passing, you're given a run down of the Pantheon with stories that most people haven't heard of. Interspersed are actually some clever insights from Rick Riordan, which offer an interpretation as to the thought process behind these myths and the characters who inhabit them.
For the fact that my 9 year old ran into a wall while reading this, I am saying that she loves the book. Almost too much, is it wrong to want to take away a book from a kid? She keeps making us late. LOL
This is an absolutely wonderful and riveting book. Written in the voice of Percy Jackson, many well known and more obscure Greek myths are related using the sarcastic humor of Percy. He adds his own obvious and often ridiculous contributions to the myths, such as having the Greek Gods using modern technology or eating junk food in addition to other activities related in the myths. These additions can easily be distinguished from the original mythology and add humor to often harsh stories. When the gods do horrible things like eat people, marrying their sisters, etc., Percy is grossed out and make comments about how nasty that is. This makes it a little easier for kids to handle that type of thing. Whenever Percy enhances the myths by giving his opinion about how something might have happened he clearly states that what he is saying is not actually stated in the mythology, and this often makes the retelling of stories that might not make sense in modern times easier for a juvenile reader to understand. I recommend this book as an excellent reference to Greek Mythology for both juveniles and adults who appreciate tales being told in a lively rather than dry style. Am really looking forward to reading Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes, coming in Fall 2015.
My twin boys loved it! They are 8 years old and read it more than once! I am Greek and I was never able to teach them about Greek gods like this book did! It kept their interest and it is written in a way they can really understand it! EXCELLENT book!
A terrific book that gives the story of each of the 12 pantheon gods. Riordan did his research so that the reader is learning about the ancient texts but it is told in Percy Jackson's snarky "voice" so it is very funny. I am a middle school Reading Resource teacher and I recommend this book as a read aloud in the classroom and an option in the classroom library. I've been able to get students to pick it up as a self-selected book because each story is short enough that it doesn't intimidate like Riordan's novels, there are pictures, and the text is fun to read.
I have read several books on Greek Mythology. This author mentions some gods I didn't hear about before or had only heard a Roman version of (like Hestia) and didn't even know there was a Greek one.
Second, all the other works either had a "sacred" air to them or just rattled off the disgusting or insane aspects without any idea that this was odd, revolting, or morally disgusting. 'Percy' however takes great delight pointing out the weird, stupid or just plain wrong things they supposedly did. Even people like Socrates the philosopher pointed out how immoral they were, and were such awful role models. Aristophanes the comic play writer had great success satirizing them. Trumped up kings or heroes as gods still have all the flaws as regular humans.
This was an excellent book! It was filled with all of the familiar elements of the Greek mythology, but with the hilarious Percy Jackson narrating, it's stuffed to the rim with modern and funny comments and side notes to keep up the interesting factor up a through the whole book.
