Pamela Morsi is a great story teller. If you want to "take a little trip" in someone else's life, I think you will enjoy this book. It's easy to fall in love with Morsi's characters. This story is a little predictable, but in a satisfying way. I read some other Amazon reviews before I bought this book. One reviewer criticized Morsi's development of a particular character, but when you read the book you will understand why that character seemed too good to be true. Suffering has a way of perfecting people. I especially enjoyed how this author developed the story from the children's point of view. I'm putting more from this author in my to-read queue.

I've never read a Pam Morsi novel before but the the blurb and title sounded wonderful. I got the sample for my and loved it so order the entire book. I loved Cam--what a cool guy--and I loved the character of Red but then it all got wishy-washy. red, whose never been mother material, suddenly becomes maternal. As someone else mentioned, WHY does Cam care about Red? Other than a great behind and gorgeous hair, why does he care for this prickly, secretive and mean woman? Then we get all involved in real estate (interesting as a much more minor plot point), a float, cupcakes and lose track of those fascinating people at the beginning. The book seems to wander around with no focus. I KNOW how popular Ms. Morsi is and how much readers love her so I feel uncomfortable about saying this, but the writer seemed to forget what the book was about and fill it with fluff. Problems are resolved too easily. For example, suddenly her daughter loves her.
This is a MUST read........love the author's style. Read everything I can get my hands on by this author
I really enjoyed this book. It was so descriptive that I could actually visualize myself being there. I loved the description of the Room Mothers from school and how she felt around them. I felt exactly the same way myself when my children were growing up and was surprised to find out that other women have felt the same way.

I enjoyed it so much, I purchased a copy for my friend that lives in Florida and sent it to her as a gift.
I've tried to read Paula Morsi's books from when she first started publishing to present. I enjoy her character description and cultural highlights.
"Red's Hot Honky-Tonk Bar" was a treat from start to finish, watching Red discover love throughout, and learning to accept that precious gift from those she least expected to accept her. I love the humanity found in Pamela Morsi's homespun characters, and their honesty, as she spins her tales.
Pamela Morsi is one of my favorite authors. This wasn't my favorite book by her but still worth a read.
Red is a hard-bitten forty-something who has carved out an unconventional life she is very content with. She lives in the public eye (as owner of a busy Honky-Tonk bar) yet is very guarded with her personal life. This story is about what happens when she is unexpectedly forced to care for her two grandkids, whom she has barely ever even seen before. I love how she rises to the challenge. She is put into increasingly uncomfortable situations, and her responses are believable and poignant. Add to the mix her relationship with a much younger man, and her commitment to NO commitment, and the story just gets better and better.
